Sam Bouji was presented with the Entrepreneurship Award on February 25, 2010, at the 18th Annual New Pioneers Awards.
More than 500 guests, including federal, provincial and local government representatives, corporate and community leaders, volunteers, clients, supporters, the media, as well as family and friends, gathered at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
Skills for Change has created a video interview of Sam at the Global Head Office in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Skills for Change received media coverage from OMNI TV regarding the awards and the recipients. Furthermore, the CBC program called The Link www.rcinet.ca, featured a special interview with Sam Bouji which broadcasted on Wednesday, February 24, 2010.
Immigrant Success Story: Toronto correspondent Lyne-Françoise Pelletier has the story of Sam Bouji who succeeded against all odds during a time when immigrants were given few opportunities.
About Skills for Change
Each year Skills for Change presents six awards to outstanding immigrants or refugees, recognizing their special accomplishments in the areas of Arts, Community Service, Entrepreneurship, Science and Technology, Skills for Change Graduate and Youth.
Established in 1982, Skills for Change is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides learning and training opportunities for immigrants and refugees so that they can participate in the workplace and wider community. They work with employers to promote diversity in the workplace through mentorship, recruitment and professional development training initiatives.
